The English language is not my mother tongue. I’m a French Canadian father raising his boy in South Korea. As a young boy, I remember several French-Quebec words that started with the letter N that my family used. Examples: Niaiser=to fool, or Nono=being silly. But this article is aimed at English speakers…
Well learning any language is a lifetime undergoing. For multilingual families, you know that languages play a vital role in the daily lives of our kids and we, as parents, spend a lot of time correcting and putting their words in the right place. (at least when they’re young)
I’ve come up with several lists on this site of trivia questions, and nifty words that start with the ‘P’ but today we will look at something similar and different! I’ve made a list of positive words that start with the letter N. Ok well, not all positive, depending on your view. But many of these can be introduced into your daily vocabulary and depending on your children’s ages, they could also benefit from these cool words.
You’ll notice that some basic ‘N’ words are listed here, along with some cool words such as ‘Nitrify’ and ‘Nil’. Some interesting facts are that the letter ‘N’ is the 14th letter of the alphabet which means it lies in the middle of the English alphabet. It’s one of the most frequently used letters after, R, E, T, and others.
Story of The Letter ‘N’
The letter ‘N’ is pretty special in the world of English grammar and has roots that go way back to ancient civilizations. Starting from the Phoenician alphabet and making its way through the Greek alphabet as well as the Latin alphabet, ‘N’ is used a lot in our everyday language.
It’s not just any letter; it pops up in tons of positive and nurturing words like ‘nurture’, ‘noble’, and ‘noteworthy’. Whether you’re a great teacher or just someone who loves words, the letter ‘N’ gives a natural elegance to your vocabulary making it rich and interesting. It’s a key player whether you’re diving into a passion project, sharing good news, or just exploring new words.
