The importance of a morning routine

Grooming is more than just a daily teeth cleaning and a 5-minute shower. Itโ€™s an essential part of being a man. Every man should adopt a daily grooming routine to keep their appearance, health, and well-being at their highest. Not only will grooming help you feel more confident, but itโ€™s also a great way to set yourself apart.

When you groom yourself daily, youโ€™re not only taking care of yourself but also sending a message to the world. A great morning routine sets the tone for the rest of your day and gives you the zest to achieve anything you put your mind to.

The health and beauty benefits of grooming are vast. Daily routines can improve your self-confidence, mental health, and even your social skills. When you groom, not only do you feel better about yourself but others can also notice the difference.

Skin care tips

Your skin is exposed every day to harmful pollutants and weather conditions, making it even more important to start your day with a clean slate. Especially if youโ€™re living in a metropolitan area like I am, Seoul, the air is not always great. Washing your face with an effective cleanser twice daily can reduce oil buildup, unclog pores, and minimize breakouts and redness caused by an accumulation of oil, pollutants, and bacteria on your skin.

For your face, youโ€™ll want to look for a cleanser that contains salicylic acid or glycolic acid. This can help to treat oily or acne-prone skin and unclog pores, making it ideal for men with oily skin. If you have dry or sensitive skin, you may want to look for a cleanser that includes hyaluronic acid or collagenโ€“ these ingredients can help to hydrate and soothe the skin.

Hair care tips

While itโ€™s important to cleanse your face daily, your hair also needs some love. Excessive shampooing and scrubbing can strip your hair of its natural oils, and dry out your scalp. This can lead to dandruff and a flaky scalp.

To keep your hair and scalp healthy, aim to wash your hair only two to three times a week. The rest of the days in between, use a dry shampoo to soak up excess oil and buildup on your scalp.

When washing your hair, try to find a shampoo that is free of sulfates and other harsh chemicals. Sulfates can strip your hair of its natural oils, dehydrate your scalp, and cause buildup. Look for a shampoo that is enriched with vitamins, minerals, and proteins to keep your hair strong and healthy.

We use a Korean shampoo to help with hair loss. It smells nice and itโ€™s been good to us so farโ€ฆ Iโ€™m not 25 anymore so Iโ€™m trying to keep all the hair thatโ€™s left up there!

How to brush your teeth properly

Brushing your teeth is probably the most important part of your daily routine. Make sure youโ€™re brushing for at least two minutes to remove bacteria, plaque, and harmful build-up from your teeth and gums. We use a small hourglass for 2 to 3 minutes, this helps me and my son time our brushing.

Itโ€™s also important to use the right toothbrush. If you currently use a manual toothbrush, you may want to make the switch to an electric toothbrush. They are designed with sonic technology to clean teeth more effectively, remove more plaque, and even reduce the risk of gingivitis.

Make sure your toothbrush is properly cleaned every few weeks. Itโ€™s also important to use the right amount of toothpaste.

Too much toothpaste can cause tooth sensitivity and damage to your gums. A pea-sized amount should be just enough to give your teeth a clean and fresh feel. Find a toothpaste that is free of harmful ingredients, such as artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, and other chemicals.

If you have sensitive teeth, look for a toothpaste that is enriched with natural ingredients such as aloe vera, baking soda, and peppermint oil. These ingredients can help to soothe and calm your teeth.

The importance of using deodorant

Deodorant is a staple in almost every manโ€™s daily morning routine. Itโ€™s important because it helps to kill off bacteria and neutralize odors caused by sweat. Make sure youโ€™re using a deodorant that is enriched with minerals and natural ingredients.

You can also use all-natural deodorant at home, which is a much healthier option compared to commercial deodorants, which often contain chemicals. While deodorant is a necessary part of your daily routine, you may find that you need to switch up your scent every few months. Bacteria can build up inside your deodorant containers and cause deodorants to change in smell.

Switching up your scent every few months can help to prevent bacteria from building up and changing your deodorantโ€™s smell.

Tips for shaving

To keep your skin smooth and free of ingrown hairs, make sure to exfoliate your skin before shaving. I actually do this at night a few times a week with a Korean sheet mask for the face. **Keep them in the fridge, they come out extra cold and refresh your skin to the man!

You can also use a shaving foam or get to prepare your skin for shaving. Once youโ€™ve prepared your skin, itโ€™s important to select the right razor. Iโ€™m a big Gillette fan and Iโ€™ve been using them since high school. Look for a razor that is enriched with minerals and essential oils. They can help to hydrate and condition your skin, which prevents razor burn.

Once youโ€™ve shaved, youโ€™ll need to take care of your skin. Make sure to use an aftershave balm or moisturizing toner to soothe and calm your skin. You can also use a shaving gel or gel-based moisturizer to protect and hydrate your skin. I simply use the Nature Republic brand and Pure Foret as a toner and an aftershave.

Grooming essentials

Along with daily skin care and hair care practices, there are a few essentials every man should have in their grooming bags. Make sure you have a nail kit to keep your nails well-maintained.

The next essential is a good hair trimmer. These little guys are great for cutting unwanted hair and trimming your ear and nose hairs. They are compact, easy to carry around, and can be used discreetly.

Other grooming tips

There are several other grooming tips you can use to keep your hair and skin looking healthy and fresh. To help minimize breakouts, make sure to wash your face twice a day and use a facial cleanser with salicylic acid or glycolic acid.

Avoid excessive sun exposure, which can age your skin, and can also lead to skin cancer. Excessive sun exposure can also lead to wrinkles and discoloration. A good quality sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher is light and not oily like many other brands.

Use eau de toilette for men. Eau de toilette means โ€˜Toilet water.โ€™ Yes, but donโ€™t take it literally. If you like soft scents, I highly recommend Allure for Men by Chanel.
